The Harps Senior Footballers recorded a fine 4-10 to 3-6 win over neighbours St. Maurs after a well contested battle as is always when these close neighbours meet and so their good start to their Div. One campaign continued in a game when after the initial ten minutes of sizing each other up went the way of the home side thanks in no small way to some great defending when in mattered most followed up with some great point scoring from distance and topped off with four goals worthy to grace any game.
A couple of quick goals for St Maurs in the second half gave them some hope but the home team were in no mood to relinquish their grip on the game and with a good cushion of scores in the bank the lads upped it again to finish the game out in fine style.
Despite a few injuries picked up this was an impressive showing by the lads on a day when Ethan Dunne, Eoin Wilde and Eoin O Connor Flanagan made their Senior Football debuts and certainly left their mark on the game in what was a good day for the team and management.
Well done to all and the great support.
Missing from the photo is Eoin Smith who picked up an ankle injury and who along with Eoin McGinley who also had to leave the field are wished a speedy recovery after both putting in big performances as are at least six more of the lads on the treatment table who will make a welcome return in the next month or so.

Harps 0-5 to 0-2 at the break with Liam Byrne leading the charge from mid field kicking 2 from play. MOW restricted to 2 frees only in first half. Huge defensive effort by all 6 backs with Liam Smartt, Clinton Opara and Ronan Geoghegan to the fore.
MOW got first 3 scores of 2nd half to level the game after 40 mins but Harps pulled away in 3rd quarter with 2-1scored from play in a 7 minute spell to kill of the tie. Goals coming from Luke Whelan and substitute Luke Harrison. Best on the day for skerries Liam Smartt and Clinton Opara at the back Paul Wilde & Liam Byrne at centre field and Simon Connolly, Luke Whelan and Fionn Duncan showing well upfront.
Well done to Hannah McGinnis who played for the Dublin Minor football team today.
Minor Ladies Football
For the first time in the history of the Club we have 2 minor ladies football teams. Our A Team got off to an excellent start with an impressive 5-15 to 1-0 victory over Parnells on Saturday 26th February. Unfortunately, they lost by 1 point on Saturday and score was 3-6 to 3-5 against Templeogue Synge Street with the opposition scoring a goal in the last kick of the game.
The B Team were scheduled to play Trinity Gaels on the 26th March but the opposition conceded so 3 points on the board also for the girls.
Both teams are playing next Saturday the 12th March. We would like to wish the girls the very best of luck in their 2022 league campaign.
U13 Girls
Well what can we say...first competitive match for our U13 Team 2 today, and as expected they did us proud. Very tough Camogie match against Round Towers Lusk. Our girls did not give up until the final whistle blew. Unfortunately they lost today but they are going from Strenght to Strength and we look forward to watching them thrive.
Team 1, played away to O'Dwyer's Balbriggan and had a super game, just missed out on the win but battled throughout.
Both teams playing with no subs and performed with no issue and battle to very end.
Our U8 boys played their first Go Games this week. Well done to all the lads and new mentors. The future is bright.

Skerries All Stars
Skerries All Stars is an inclusive environment which we are so proud of and is simply going from strength to strength.
Every Friday 4.30pm-5.15pm we have the pleasure of welcoming some fantastic children and their parents to our Main Pitch here at Skerries Harps GAA & Camogie Club. Our All Stars can play safely, partake in sport and have lots of fun with amazing colourful equipment.
We had another super day on Friday at our All Star Session.
2003 Minor Boys visited and gave a very generous and kind donation to our All Star Children! They would like to treat them to an ice-cream treat and wish our group all the best.
Huge thank you to their Captain Ethan Dunne who presented our Lead coach Aaron Rock with their donation. Thank you also to 2003 Minor Mentor Paul Wilde and Eoin Wilde who also came to visit. Very much appreciated by all at the All Stars.

Meet our new GPO - Gordon Mac an Bhaird
Skerries Harps are delighted to introduce Gordon Mac an Bhaird as their new GPO (Games Promotion Officer) for the club. Gordon comes to Skerries Harps with a huge amount of experience having previously worked with Dublin GAA as a GPO for 10 years in St. Peregrines.
Gordon also worked with Leinster GAA in Navan Co. Meath, spent 3 years as head Strength and conditioning Coach with Wexford football and has extensive club coaching experience across Kildare, Meath and Dublin in football, hurling, camogie and ladies' football. His coaching extends across all levels and he also coached the Sigerson Cup team in DIT (TUD). It’s not the only experience Gordons brings to the club - he also holds a Level 2 GAA Tutor qualification, one of the highest levels of coach developer qualification within the GAA. We are very privileged to have this experience and skill within our club.
Gordons Home club is St. Kevins and Coill Dubh in Kildare but also played for a number of years with Erin's Isle.
‘This is an extremely important role within Skerries Harps...we’ve benefited hugely in the past from our participation and from support from the GAA Games Promotion Office and we have been appointed a great asset to the club. A very special mention this week, at our Juvinelle meeting to our Chairman for his relentless work in securing a GPO for our club through the GAA development programme at a very challenging and difficult time for GAA recruitment.

While we filled this very important role we have had a gap over the past few months and would like to take this opportunity to thank the club executive, academy coaches and volunteers who ensured our high standards were maintained while this vital recruitment process was completed. A little about the GAA Games Development Programme and the role the GPO plays for the club as part of that.
With the assistance of funding from Sport Ireland (formerly known as the Irish Sports Council), the Association employs over 300 Games Development Personnel nationwide, who are responsible for the implementation of activities under the Grassroots to National Programme.
Games Promotion Officers (GPOs) are responsible for the implementation of a specific number of Games Development projects, are assigned to clubs and report to the County Games Development Manager. They ensure the club gets highly qualified personnel with continuous support from the GAA in supporting the club.
